The Weather in Mallorca

Mallorca is one of the Balearic Islands of the south west coast of Spain.  It is a major tourist destination, especially for tourists from northern Europe who are seeking the sun and some warm weather.

Mallorca’s weather is strongly influenced by the warm seas of the Mediterranean which surround the island and has warm, dry summers along with cooler winters.   This is known as the dry summer subtropical climate.  Much of the island has consistent weather although the mountainous regions can have different weather from the rest of the island.

The island has over 300 days of sunshine per year and this is perhaps the main reason for its popularity with visitors.  Summer usually starts around the end of May and lasts until the beginning of October.  July and August are usually the hottest months and this is the time when most tourists are on the island.

During the winter months of November through April the weather is more variable with cold periods as well as increased rainfall.  However there is often sunny days during this time – which increase until summer hits again.  Tourists arrive again to visit and the tourist industry kicks in again with restaurants, bars and five star hotels Mallorca ready for the increase in visitors.
