Loch Ness in Scotland

Loch Ness is located in the Scottish Highlands close to Inverness.  It is a wild and beautiful place and one of the UKs top tourist destinations.  The loch is twenty-four miles long and over a mile wide in places.  At its deepest point it is over 700 feet deep. Loch Ness is renowned around the world oas the home of the famous Loch Ness Monster or Nessie.

When you visit Loch Ness there are many things to do.  A circuit of the loch is only seventy miles and so it is easy to drive or cycle around.  The south side of the loch is quieter and has some terrific scenery.  On the south side you will pass through some picturesque villages including Whitebridge, Inverfarigaig, Foyers, and Dores.

There is a wide variety of accommodation available for visitors in the area.  You can try out a Loch Ness holiday cottage or look around for other hotels, lodges and bed and breakfasts.  The Loch Ness Exhibition Centre opened in 1980 and includes a hi-tech informative exhibition as well as shops, a hotel, restaurant and bar.  Shopping facilities within the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre includes The Kiltmaker Shop, The Whisky Shop, The Cashmere and Woolens Shop  and The Nessie Shop.
