Maps More than Directions for Vacationers

Friday, March 21st, 2008

While recently cleaning out my Winnebago, I found several maps from past trips. I took them inside and added them to the non-RV trips and I discovered that I had quite a collection. Of course there was a map of USA, a couple of Texas maps, and three Canada maps.

But the coolest was the map of Asia. It took us a long time to save up enough to fly overseas but we finally did and we loved it. The food in Japan was our favorite. I have never had such delicious sushi in all of the hundreds of times that I even it. The tuna was so fresh!

My wife liked visiting the Philippines the best of any place we went to in Asia. She really liked the people there. She said they were very nice and she felt somewhat safer there then she did in some of the other countries we visited. But I told her we were the same amount of safe everywhere. They had delicious foods also.

I made notes on the Asia maps of all of the countries we went to and how I liked the food and how my wife liked the people. I guess we’ll know where to go next time.

Cheap Rims and Tires Make Parents’ Car Safe

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

I needed car tires for my Toyota. I could only find expensive ones at the regular tire stores around town. I finally went online and did a search for "toyo open country tires" and I found great custom rims and tires for a price that I can afford. I blew out a tire a few weeks ago and after I replaced that one I noticed that the others weren’t looking so good.

After my tires came in I put them on my car and went for a ride. I could not believe the difference that having new, balanced tires can make. It had felt like the road was covered in potholes or was uneven. Now I know that it was my old tires. They weren’t even black anymore because they were so old.

Anyway, I went to see my parents and when I got there I noticed that they needed cheap rims and tires too. Now they’re on a fixed income but I was able to order them very reasonably priced tires and rims that were very high quality. They said that after I left they went for a drive and they could tell there car was driving smoother.

Searching For Theater Tickets

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

I love going to live theater. Its so much more exciting than a movie for me. I love the costumes, the stage sets and most of all seeing real actors in the flesh getting to grips with a role.

What do I look for when buying theater tickets? Well I either look for established shows such as Lion King tickets or entertaining spectacles like the Blue Man Group tickets.

For a really special evening I recommend going out for a nice meal before heading to the theater. Then heading to the theater bar for a drink before the show. And after the show going for coffee or a nightcap to round off the perfect evening!

More than Meets the Eye: Arthur Trueger

Friday, March 14th, 2008

My business partner and I recently took a trip to California to arrange for a branch of our company to open there. My wife went with us and insisted that we go to the San Francisco ballet. After the ballet we ended up meeting several business men and women from the area and we were impressed to learn that venture capitalist Arthur Trueger is a regular patron of the arts.

I’ve heard of Arthur Trueger before but I never thought that I would end up being at the same function as him. I hear he spends a lot of time helping start-up tech companies and when he isn’t doing that I heard he likes to bicycle and work on his French, German and Japanese speaking skills.

My wife was dumbfounded when she found out about Arthur Trueger. She couldn’t believe that a businessman would have such diverse interests. She’s always thought my love for the arts was odd for a business owner but now she understands that an appreciation for things such as ballet only make us more interesting.

French Open - Tennis Tournament

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

The French Open, is a major Grand Slam tennis tournament held during May and June each year.  It is the major clay court tournament and boasts the largest worldwide audience for all tennis tournaments.

The clay courts make for a slow playing surface which means it is considered to be the most physically demanding tennis tournament in the world.  Certain players specialize in this type of play and the result is that many renowned players (for example: Roger Federer, Jimmy Conners and Pete Sampras) have never won this grand slam tournament.

The French Open Tennis Tournament is held each year in the Stade de Roland Garros in Paris France.
