Big Brokers or Online Stock Picking Software?

Tuesday, October 9th, 2007

When people become interested in investing in the stock market there are generally three options:  do all the work on your own, give your money to a broker, or subscribe to an online stock picking software, like Gorilla Trades.  They all have pros and cons.

When investing completely on your own, you save money that you would have to use to pay a broker, but you lose the benefit of experience and market knowledge.  With big brokers you get plenty of experience and advice and the necessary workload is lightened, but you lose control in what you invest and have to pay higher fees.  With the online stock picking services, you get the experience, like you do with the brokers, but you also get to choose in which suggested stocks you invest.  Also, the fees for online stock service subscriptions are usually in between investing on  your own and what a big broker would charge.
